Salaty Whisk publishes prayer times as an informational reference. This page describes the limits of the data.

Calculations, not observations

The Fajr, Dhuhr, Asr, Maghrib, and Isha times here come from standard astronomical formulas — they aren't real-time observations of the sky or announcements from local mosques. The site uses the Muslim World League (MWL) method with an 18° angle for Fajr and 17° for Isha.

Local variation

Different mosques in the same city may publish slightly different times for valid reasons: a different calculation method, iqamah delay, or imam discretion. Salaty Whisk isn't the final authority for your congregation. For congregational prayer, follow your local mosque's published schedule.

High latitudes

Cities in the Minho and Trás-os-Montes (Braga, Viana do Castelo, Bragança) get extended twilight in summer and short periods of darkness in winter. At those extremes, MWL can produce Fajr and Isha times that seem impractical. Common practice in those cases is to follow the "middle of the night" method or ask your mosque directly.

Liability

Data is provided as is. We aren't liable for consequences of following a wrong time, a missed daylight-saving transition, or an upstream calculation error from the data provider.

Mosque data

Mosque addresses are checked against public sources at the time of publication but may change. If a listing is out of date, write to us.
